Apple's New Measures to Promote Flowering Author: Li Xin Source: China Agricultural Standards Network In recent years, the growth of flowering apple trees has become a challenge due to excessive or improper management. Issues such as mid-girdling and weakened tree vigor, as well as the use of stimulating hormones leading to deformed fruits, have been common. However, by implementing the following supporting measures, it is possible to control branch length, enhance tree vitality, and achieve an annual flowering rate of up to 99%. Here’s how: 1. Branch pulling can be done throughout the year, but it is most effective in spring and autumn. During these seasons, the tree is in a period of active nutrient absorption and storage. The branches are more flexible, making it easier to adjust their angle after pulling. This practice improves air circulation and light penetration within the canopy, increases nutrient accumulation in the branches, and promotes the development of full and healthy flower buds. 2. From May 15 to June 30, moderate pruning of the trunk or main branches can be performed. A small amount of a fruit tree cationic active agent known as "Promote King Cream" is applied. This agent helps redirect nutrients from the upper parts of the tree toward the roots, allowing the shoots to accumulate more energy. Once inside the tree’s vascular system, this cationic agent destroys viruses, activates anions, and generates a large number of high-energy electrons through photosynthesis. This process disrupts the transport of photosynthetic products, shifting the plant’s growth function toward reproductive development. It also increases endogenous ethylene levels, which encourages the formation of high-quality flower buds and enhances ovary development. Additionally, this agent helps break down condensed substances in the vascular system and balances the ecological nutrition within the tree. 3. After the early harvest, apply a generous amount of organic fertilizer. For each acre, use 5,000–6,000 kg of high-quality pig or cow manure along with 100 kg of fruit tree compound fertilizer. Before spring bud break, spray a 3% urea solution three times. After July, apply a potassium dihydrogen phosphate solution three times to ensure proper axillary bud formation. These steps support the tree’s overall health and significantly improve its ability to produce abundant, high-quality flowers.
