First, use a clever uncovering film

In June, the temperature inside the greenhouse and shed becomes extremely high, making it unsuitable for vegetable growth. To adapt the plants to external conditions, management should gradually ventilate by opening the side vents first, followed by the top vents, and finally the end vents. The process should be done slowly, increasing the airflow gradually rather than keeping the structure fully closed all day. This helps the vegetables acclimate to the outside climate, extending their growing season and boosting yields. With proper ventilation, the greenhouse crops will grow more vigorously and produce higher yields.

Second, lower the temperature

Using shade nets in greenhouses and arch sheds can reduce the internal temperature by about 10°C, while also cutting down on virus diseases by over 50%. For each mu of land, it's recommended to purchase around 600m² of shade net, which costs approximately 500 yuan. This investment can increase production by 30% to 50%, leading to an additional income of roughly 2,000 yuan per mu. Shade nets are a cost-effective solution that significantly improves crop health and productivity.

Third, prevent pests

When the arch sheds are left open constantly, diseases tend to spread quickly, and pests like aphids, whiteflies, and bollworms can easily infest the crops, harming the vegetables. To combat this, installing insect-proof nets on the air vents is highly effective. These nets can block various pests and even help prevent viral infections such as mosaic and anthracnose. For every mu of land, you need about 300m² of insect-proof net, costing around 300 yuan. This simple measure can make a big difference in protecting your crops.

Fourth, reduce watering

Currently, open-season vegetables are in the seedling stage, and the main focus should be on timely cultivation and controlled watering. It’s recommended to cultivate the soil 3 to 4 times, starting with deeper tilling and gradually moving to shallower layers, while working from the base outward. This promotes strong root development and maintains a balance between the plant’s reproductive and vegetative growth. During this phase, watering should be minimal. After about 20 to 25 days, the first watering should be done carefully, using furrows and topping up with water to ensure even moisture distribution without overwatering.

This approach ensures healthier plants, better yield, and more efficient resource use, making it essential for successful greenhouse farming during the summer months.
