There are several ways to use chicken manure as pig feed, such as drying it, feeding it fresh, or using traditional fermentation methods. However, the lactic acid fermentation method stands out as it turns chicken manure into high-quality, palatable pig feed. The process involves drying the manure to 70% dryness, then mixing it with a proper amount of lactic acid bacteria and 10 kg of wheat bran or rice bran per 100 kg of manure. Place the mixture in a non-toxic plastic bag or container and seal it for about 10 days. After fermentation, the smell of alcohol becomes noticeable. When feeding pigs, it's best not to mix more than 40% of this fermented material into their diet. For sows, especially pregnant ones, the percentage should not exceed 20% to avoid any health issues.
Another innovative approach is using pig manure to produce food for chickens. Collect fresh pig manure daily, pile up about 500 kg, and dry it to 70%. Then add 20% soil and 3% bran or rice bran, mix well, and cover with plastic film for about seven days. Next, dig a pit on flat ground, about 50 cm deep and wide enough to spread the fermented manure in a layer 30–40 cm thick. Cover it with grass, straw mats, or sacks, and keep it moist. Within approximately 20 days, crickets, insects, and maggots will appear. These worms can feed around 20 chickens, making this method a sustainable and cost-effective way to enhance poultry nutrition while recycling waste.
