Brayden and Penelope

You know, I've had a few people ask me about the setup I use for those Maternity Series photos, and honestly, it's nothing too fancy. In my home office, I’ve just got this plain old blanket pinned to the wall in a spot that’s kind of out of the way but still catches some decent natural light. And then, depending on how things look, we’ll sometimes turn on our softbox to give just a touch more fill light. I don’t have a picture of our exact setup right now to show you, but I promise I’ll try to snap one soon and maybe share it on Instagram. In the meantime, here are some outtakes of Brayden and Penelope. These kids always seem happy to stand in as impromptu assistants whenever I need to do a quick light check. Now, granted, these aren’t exactly the crispest shots because they were just snapped quickly for testing purposes—but when I opened them up, I couldn’t bring myself to delete them. They’re just too sweet!

Doesn’t it feel like life sometimes gives us moments like these? Those unplanned days that turn out to be chaotic, messy, and exhausting, yet somehow deeply fulfilling by the end? Days where you go to bed feeling full—mentally, emotionally, physically—and yet completely drained. It’s funny how that works, isn’t it?

As for us, we’re now only two weeks away from what everyone is calling “the newest addition,” and we’re starting to feel like it could happen anytime. Meanwhile, we’re juggling the craziness of the end-of-year school schedule, prepping for the bunny’s birthday (because apparently, even bunnies deserve celebrations), and trying to create some special memories before we officially become a family of five. Honestly, it feels like we’ve dropped every single ball we’re supposed to be juggling. Yet, I keep coming back to this thought: I’m going to focus on one thing, just one thing, and do it really well—even if it means embracing the chaos and imperfections along the way.

Anyway, enough seriousness. Let me know if there’s anything specific you’d like to hear more about or any questions you have. I love hearing from all of you! Until next time, take care and keep spinning your own version of life’s big balls.
