Analysis of the Development of Foreign Trade in China's Medicine in 2012

Although the amount of China's pharmaceutical exports in 2011 reached 44.516 billion US dollars, an increase of 34.9%, but this year it is not all plain sailing. Recently, the China Chamber of Commerce for the Import and Export of Medicines and Health Products (hereinafter referred to as the “Medical Insurance Chamber of Commerce”) warned in its “Analysis of the Foreign Trade of the Pharmaceutical Industry in 2011 and Prospects for the Next Year” that China's pharmaceutical foreign trade still faces four major risks this year.

This year, the domestic foreign trade situation of medicine is not optimistic. “In particular, the economic recovery of major pharmaceutical markets such as Europe, the United States and Japan is slow, and there is limited room for growth in external demand. Together with the continuous rise in pharmaceutical manufacturing costs, business pressure continues to increase. In addition, the domestic pharmaceutical industry in the middle and lower reaches increasingly fierce homogenization and competition. The higher technical barriers to the upgrading of the pharmaceutical industry are all problems facing China's pharmaceutical foreign trade this year.This year, China's foreign trade in pharmaceuticals will continue to grow, but the growth rate has declined.
