1. Brake Failure. If the friction plate is severely worn and its thickness decreases, the brake clearance will increase, which can reduce braking efficiency. To address this, adjust the number of shims on the brake cover to ensure the clearance meets the specified standards. If mud or oil enters the internal brake mechanism, it can lower the friction coefficient and lead to brake failure. In such cases, replace the oil seal and rubber seal, then clean all parts with gasoline, dry them thoroughly, and reinstall. If the brake fails due to a faulty spring or jammed ball, disassemble the brake, replace the return spring, and use fine emery cloth to polish the brake plate groove and steel ball. Clean the surface before reassembling. If the brake pedal has excessive free play, it may cause the brakes to engage unintentionally, leading to failure. Loosen the interlocking pieces, adjust the free stroke of both left and right brake pedals according to the manufacturer's specifications, and reassemble them properly.
2. Brake Overheating. If the brake pedal clearance is too small, the tractor may experience unintended braking while in motion, causing the brakes to overheat. Adjust the free stroke of the brake pedal so that both left and right pedals have a free travel of 90 to 120 mm. If the keyway is too tight against the spline shaft, it can restrict movement and cause overheating. Repair the spline so that the friction plate can move freely along the shaft. If the return spring on the brake plate fails, the pressure plate may not fully release after braking, resulting in a semi-braked condition that causes the friction plate to heat up. Replace the faulty return spring to restore normal operation. Regular inspection and maintenance are essential to prevent these issues and ensure safe braking performance.
