To determine the effect of vitamin C on the growth and pathology of the diseased Nile tilapia, Egyptian fishery researchers conducted experiments.

The test fish had an average body weight of 20 g and were fed with feed supplemented with vitamin C 0 mg/kg, 50 mg/kg, 150 mg/kg, 250 mg/kg, 500 mg/kg, and 1000 mg/kg, respectively, for 12 weeks. The poor growth of fish fed with no added vitamin C feed was measured. Adding 50 mg/kg of vitamin C prevented the fish from lacking symptoms. Adding 150 mg/kg increased the weight gain, feed conversion rate, specific growth rate and protein efficiency of tilapia. . Fish protein content increased with the increase of vitamin C in feed, and the fat content decreased. The vitamin C content in fish tissues was spleen, liver, muscle and kidney.

The tilapia-infected tilapia was fed with different levels of vitamin C feed. The mortality of diseased fish that was not fed with vitamin C feed was more than 90%, and the survival rate of diseased fish fed with vitamin C 1000 mg/kg feed was 90%. Above, the symptoms of pathological infections gradually disappear.
