The principle is as follows:
ProteoMiner low abundance protein enrichment system. Each bead has a different hexapeptide ligand that has a specific affinity for the particular protein of the sample. When a complex protein sample is incubated with a hexapeptide ligand in a library, those proteins of the sample will find their binding sites accordingly and be captured by the beads. Those excess high-abundance proteins that are not bound to the binding site are removed during subsequent bead elution because they are not captured by the beads. In contrast, low abundance proteins are enriched in their specific affinity ligands. In this way, low abundance proteins are relatively enriched and concentrated.

The ProteoMiner low-abundance protein enrichment system provides both small and large capacity kits, depending on the amount of protein in the starting sample. The small-capacity kit is suitable for processing limited sample materials, at least 10 mg of protein is recommended; the large-capacity kit is suitable for processing more than 50 mg of protein. The ProteoMiner system is a centrifugal column that is easy to operate and has a disposable spin column to avoid residual contamination of the sample. The kit contains all the necessary reagents needed to enrich the low-abundance protein. Small and large-capacity kits can handle 2 or 10 samples, respectively.
